34 weeks!

Just a little preggo update...

I had my doctor's appointment...he was on time and I was in and out in 30 minutes!!!! Yippee!

I gained 2 more pounds...for a grand total so far of 13 pounds. My BP was good. Apparently I peed well in the cup...no one mentioned anything there. When I got into the examining room my doctor announced that baby's lungs are now developing so if anything were to happen, she'd most likely be just fine if delivered..."good job". Yeah, thanks, I've been working so hard to keep this baby inside me for this long. That's like being congratulated on having blue eyes or small feet...not really something you have control over.

Then I asked him why Crunchy is hurting me (okay, I didn't call her Crunchy in front of him...I didn't want to be admitted to the psych ward today). He checked her heartbeat (sounded good) measured my girth (I'm measuring SMALL??? 32 1/2 weeks), and then felt to see what part was most likely causing my discomfort. Turns out she is head down...so she must just have a bony little butt. And STRONG feet. As I left, the doctor said "I'm afraid I can't tell you the discomfort is going to get better" which made both he and I chuckle. No kidding. I have six weeks left. She's just going to get bigger.

Anyway, all is good. 2 more weeks until I see him again...and that's the appointment that the lovely pelvic exams begin. Those were always depressing with Andrew (on my due date I was not effaced at all and not dilated at all...sad news for a 10 month preggo).

I remember being SO relieved once I reached that "safe" point with Calum, where chances were he'd be fine if he came early. Of course, he didn't want to come out at all and I eventually got induced. All that worry over nothing.

Only 13 pounds!!! Holy crap, that's NOTHING. You'll probably weigh less after having the baby. I gained 40 pounds with Calum. Ugh. I felt like a blimp.

Yeah for you! You're almost there! I keep checking your blog lately thinking there will be big news... I'm really excited for you.

HEY!
I don't want to scare you or anything, but I was measuring really small and Rachel was killing me every time she moved and it turns out it was b/c of the low fluid level. MIght be something to ask about as it can be very dangerous. Honestly the only way we found out was through an ultrasound to check something else (she was still moving a lot and her heartbeat was nice and strong - it was something that wasn't found at a regular appointment and I wasn't leaking fluid)

Hey Giselle,

Happy belated birthday! I forgot to send your card. . . you didn't mention it on your blog. I guess that happens when you are responsible for two children, even if one of them is not breathing air yet; and, let's face it, with a name like Crunchy, she sounds like she can take are of herself!

Hang in there! At least she's head-down, that's good news.
