I am going to go crazy. Retire. Something to get me away from my crabby kid.
I took him to the doctor on Monday. He woke up way too early for his later bedtime. He was crabby all morning. He woke from a 20 minute nap (yes, 20 minutes) screaming. Surely there must be something wrong with this child?!?! Nope. All systems good. Fine, if there is nothing wrong with the child, then can you prescribe something for ME???
Yesterday, he slept well at night, but took a 40 minute nap.
Today, 30 minutes.
It is not as if he doesn't need it. I thought for sure today would be a long nap. Let me count the tantrums of the morning (each of the following was cause for a crying, screaming fit):
1) Didn't want breakfast bar, cereal, French toast sticks, toast, yogurt for breakfast.
2) Desperately wanted yogurt
3) Wanted Cheerios, but not the good for you Cheerios, Mommy, (2 minutes into tantrum I realized he wanted to Froot Loops we use for projects)
4) Wanted to stand on the step stool at the library and throw books onto the floor (Mean Mommy didn't let him)
5) Wanted to rush out of library before Mommy could check out books (Mean Mommy made him sit on the floor by her instead!)
6) Wanted Mommy to sit in the back of the car with him (who is going to drive, Andrew? Answered with wails)
7) 30 minutes of crying inexplicably once we got home from the library.
8) Mommy won't let Andrew shred envelopes ready to mail.
9) Wants to SWING at the park, not slide
10) Wants the other swing
11) No not swing, SLIDE
12) No slide, go home and have Chicken nuggets
I think that is all. I may have blacked out as a psychological protection however, so I can't be sure. So after lunch, I was QUITE ready to put the boy down, and he sure acted tired.
30 minutes. Well, he played in bed for 15, then it was quiet for 30, then he was screaming and sobbing. Mean Mommy went upstairs, rubbed his back and left the room. It is still undecided whether he will sleep or not.
Grrrrrr...I just can't wait to see what the afternoon holds!

Nap strikes suck!
Sometimes I am glad that nap time is someone else's area and not mine. That being said I do get the aftermath of it :)
Hang in there - he has to sleep eventually right? RIGHT??
Sounds like your turn for a mommy time out! If I'd read this during the day I may have called you. . . Harper is a totally unpredictable napper. Sometimes I get 40 minutes, sometimes 2 hours, occassionally nothing! It's hard to plan around that.
Is there any chance that new molars might be coming through? Maybe you could try some pain medicine and see if that helps his mood? I know that Alec went through that about 6 months ago and it was his 2 year old molars...
By the way, check out SandyMcDaniel.com. Her Parenting SOS page is wonderful and I have gotten some really good discipline techniques from her. :)
