Don't get excited...

...if there is a gap in my posting (Kelsey!). I will NOT be having this baby early. I seriously carry babies up under my tonsils, where they have no contact with my cervix, thereby preventing any progress towards labor. With Andrew, I went to the doctor on my due date, and was BARELY a fingertip dilated. For those of you uneducated in dilation, here is a little explanation:

~~~10 centimeters dilated= HOLY CRAP....the baby is coming out NOW (or after 2 hours of pushing-they don't let you push until you get to 10, but that can be misleading)
~~~8 centimeters dilated= I believe this is transition...you shake and some people even throw up. Lovely. I wouldn't really know, as my drugs were working so well, someone could have amputated my foot and I wouldn't have felt a thing

~~~3 centimeters dilated= Some people walk around for weeks without ever going into labor at this point.
~~~fingertip dilated= What doctors tell a woman on her due date so she doesn't start crying hysterically to cut the baby out, it is never coming on its own. I believe it actually means that NOTHING has happened yet.

So there you go. I hope that cleared things up for you. No early labor for me. You will all have to wait just like me. But actually, I don't feel sorry for you, because you aren't even pregnant. ;)

very informative. Doctors should use your scale for their patients.
